School year 2019-20:

The special education class 2-3G designed an O.W.L. tree in our school library where the Erasmus corner is. The tree has the new Erasmus stories written in its leaves.

The students studied the names of the tree parts in Finnish, they also practiced writing big and small letters in a correct way. Many of the children have difficulties in learning so this was a fun and educational activity in many ways for them. They liked using different colors and they enjoyed drawing their own leaves.

The class also made owls on the branches and up in the air. The Finnish as a second language teacher found the model from Pinteresthttps://kidsactivitiesblog.com/50548/printable-owl-craft/ . The students read short and simple texts about owls, answered questions in a written form, learned which owls live here in Finland and watched funny owl videos. Also they listened a relaxing children's song called "Höllää pöllö höllää" about owls together. The message of the song is that owls should remember to rest and enjoy life with good and loving friends.

You can listen the song in here:

France

Beauty and the Beast

The class 2-3 started studying the story. First the Finnish teacher read half of the story in a lively way and made sure that all of the students understood something of the story. The beautiful illustrations made the book more interesting and helped the students to follow the story line.

The special education teacher helped the students to concentrate and made sure that the atmosphere in the classroom was pleasant. The students thought that the monster in the book was especially interesting and that the countryhouse in the book was idyllic even though Beauty's sisters didn't like it at all.

Juli enjoyed the story and was proud of her work
during the class.

After reading half of the story students practiced the central vocabulary in a written and verbal form.

Another class studied the story also during the same day. The students enjoyed learning about the legend after the lunch break and were happy to show their work.

Class teacher Matleena Heikkilä with her pupils who listed to the the story and did written assignments. The kids had already seen the Disney movie with Matleena so the plot was already introduced.

  • A journey through tales

The pupils of the Janson Chapel school had the chance to participate in a day devoted to storytelling at the school. To start the day, they went to attend a show "Le Montreur de Conte" at the Salle Prélude ( municipal room). Gifted, the host, made us travel around the world.

The rest of the day was punctuated by various activities: invention of a story, games and production of a small shadow theater.

Both the show and the entertainment have bee very popular with children and adults!

ERASMUS DAY

As part of their project "On the wings of legends" started in September 2019, the pupils of the La Chapelle-Janson school participated in an "Erasmus Day".

They participated in different workshops related to storytelling: visual art, games, theater ...

It was an opportunity to share a friendly moment while respecting health rules.

EUROPE !

The CE1s discovered the history of Europe, a character from Greek mythology to whom we owe the name of our continent. The pupils had fun "putting on" the costumes of the characters (Europe, Zeus, Minos, etc.) and "playing" their story a little bit…. incredible! Lots of laughs!

Beauty and the Beast

Among the tales discovered, CE1s studied more particularly the French tale: Beauty and the Beast. Who is this Belle? Who is this Beast? But who really is the monster? When wickedness leads to unhappiness and kindness leads to happiness….

Beauty and the Beast by the CM1

The CM1 class worked on the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast in literature. Following the analysis of the story, each student had to write a description of one of the characters and then illustrate it. All this work was presented orally to the class.

The tale has been starting !

The  regrouping embarks on writing an eight-class tale! The small sections started the adventure by choosing the important characters from the story. The CE1s then took over by imagining the initial situation. On the way to chapter 2 ...

Since the start of this school year, the CM2 have studied several books

on the theme of Love and Romance.

We studied the album "Cyano". It’s the story of a man, Cyrano, who had a big nose. When he smoked he always burned the tip of his nose and when the rain fell his mustache never got wet. He was also very much in love with Roxane, his cousin, who was in love with Christian. As Cyrano was ugly but intelligent, and Christian, handsome but stupid, they decided to team up to seduce Roxane. Cyrano would blow his verses to Christian who would proclaim them in turn to Roxane. We really liked this story.

We laughed a lot because this story mixes romance and humor. Some students in our class will soon be staging this story with our teacher Matthew during our “Legends days”. We are excited !!

Right now we are reading the story of the Little Mermaid. This is an Andersen tale. The little mermaid, princess of the sea has always been curious to see the world of men. On her fifteenth birthday, she was allowed to come to the surface. She arrived near a three-masted ship celebrating the birthday of a young prince. For love, the Little Mermaid would like to be part of the world of Men but will she succeed?

Before the Christmas holidays, we will be watching the Beauty and the Beast movie. We liked the tale so now we can't wait to watch the movie.

Beauty and the Beast visual art activities

If you want, as our Hungarian partner asked for, 2/3 activities related to the Beauty and the best story. :-)  If you try, please share here!

Thanks Evelyne :-)

UGSEL GAME ON THE THEME OF TALES

As a launching point for the project, the students took part in an afternoon activity combining sport and storytelling.

Teams made up of students mixed from the different participated in a game combining sport (relay race), puzzle made with posters of tales and questionnaire on tales.

We had fun :-)

LOVE AND ROMANCE IN CM1.
As part of the ERASMUS project, CM1 students studied during this first period, the album Cyrano, a famous french love story.
This story reveals an impossible love between Cyrano (who has an unsightly physique because of his big nose) and his cousin Roxane who is in love with another man: Christian.
The students read the album, they studied it through questions and then they played some love scenes between Cyrano who reveals his feelings to Roxane, or between Christian and Roxane.
Finally, in visual arts they drew the portraits of the main characters (Cyrano and his big nose, Roxane and Christian).

  • ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARIAN (UK)

Being actors and actresses for a day!

We were working on the UK Love legend: Robin Hood and Maid Marian and we performed a short theatre play!

Using our near forest around the town, we enjoyed acting and recording a video!

We hope you like it!

THE MYTH OF EUROPA (Greece)

Read the legend to understand it! This is the first step we did before looking for pictures and made this beautiful poster!

We explained the Greek legend to our younger partners from other levels in Engllish. It was great because we used our own words in order to make it more simple!

THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (France)

After reading the French legend and watching The Beauty and the Beast movie, we played a Kahoot game to know what we have understood!

ADALMINA'S PEARL (Finland)

What a lovely legend! We enjoyed a lot reading the Hungarian love legend! The pupils decided to prepare different games to work on this romance.

Here you have all we made: a memory game, a crossword, a word search, a maze and a game to find the 7 differencies!
