The four bars
CM1 students worked around the Spanish story "The four bars". The main character, Guifre el pelos, will fight in France alongside his uncle "Charles le Chauve" to scare the Normans away. CM1s read the story aloud and brainstormed a quiz.
In addition, the character Guifré el pelos was realized in visual arts.

An illustrator in the school
As part of the Fougères youth literature book fair, CE1 and CE2 welcomed Colonel Moutarde. After explaining her job to them and answering a few questions, the illustrator invited the students to draw a cat, a recurring character of the artist. The children were happy to leave with their signed drawing!
The CM1 work on Gavroche
During this period,
CM1 students studied the work of “Gavroche” a poor child from the 1830s who lives in the streets of Paris.
At that time, the insurgents were against the monarchy. Gavroche will join the group of insurgents, he will participate in the construction of barricades and fight against the king's army.
He will die singing his revolutionary song "I fell down"
The students learned to sing, produced the portrait of Gavroche in drawing and worked on the narrative diagram of the work.
The CM2 around literary Paris, poetic Paris.

Children made displays about the Greek legend and then we played a simple spelling game with the letteres of the hero's name.
O.W.L - Theme day 1
Theme Day 1 in Hungary
In this section of the project our choosen hero is TOLDI MIKLÓS who was the knight of the king in the 14th century. He is remembered as a legendary strong hero in Hungarian folklore. Hungarian poet János ARANY based his famous Toldi trilogy on his legend.
Virtual meeting France - Hungary.
Thursday, December 9, in the class, we met Hungarian students and their teacher by videoconference. We (the CM1s) with the CE1s presented the character in English: Gavroche. We sang "It's the fault of Voltaire”, which our hero sang when he went to fight.
The Huns and the Maguyars
The Hungarian pupils presented a story in pictures explaining the origin of Hungary. We then shared a Christmas drawing on our digital whiteboard.
UK - Virtual meeting with Greece and Spain
Our chosen hero for this chapter is Guy Fawkes. When we had our virtual meeting with the children in Greece and Spain we told the story of Guy Fawkes and shared with them a traditional poem. I have attached the words for the poem below...
Remember, remember, the 5th of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent
To blow up the King and the Parliament
Three score barrels of powder below
Poor old England to overthrow
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys
God save the King!

THEME DAY 2 in UK
Our Year 1/2 class looked at our legendary character who is 'Guy Fawkes'. They looked at the story of his failed plan to blow up the houses of Parliment and how this event in history has impacted on our cultural tradition of having Fireworks on November 5th. We now do this every year to remember the story of Guy Fawkes.
The children then created comic strips to help retell the story. Here are some of the comic strips they created.
Comic strip made by the french CM1 on a scene of Gavroche : the death of Gavroche.

Creating an Online Journal with Different Activities
On this project day we created different activities for all legends in the topic of Origin and then we uploaded them on a shared padlet page.
Studetns were really exiting how our partner would like their activities.

Children from Catalonia- Spain, also created several interactive activities about legends. Also, these are uploaded on a padlet where you can observe and play them.
We had a great time playing with these games and learning the legends from other countries.
Here in France we have invited our partner to play a Quizz about France and Britanny
